Job Opportunity At Plan International Nigeria: Head of Engagement

Plan International, an independent non-profit organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and promoting gender equality for girls, is seeking a Head of Engagement for its team in Nigeria.

The Role: Head of Engagement

In this newly created position, the Head of Engagement will lead the “One Plan” approach to drive the Global Strategy through collective influencing. The goal is to establish Plan International as a global leader in championing girls’ rights and addressing crises affecting girls worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer to enhance Plan International’s visibility and effectively communicate its global impact through youth-centered approaches.
  • Leverage the Global Strategy, Global Advocacy Strategy (GLAS), and Global Influencing Ambition (GIA) to identify and pursue six global engagement opportunities annually.
  • Ensure holistic coordination across various departments within the Global Hub, Regional Hubs, National Organizations, and Country Offices, with a focus on Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Policy & Advocacy, and the Girls and Youth Power and Action Hub (GYPA).
  • Develop and lead the overall Plan International Engagement Strategy, including its structure, priorities, and processes, in collaboration with the Head of Profession for Policy & Advocacy.
  • Actively engage with the GLAS Steering Committee and other internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to advancing children’s rights, gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills for complex information.
  • Ability to assess risks, issues, and opportunities coherently and solve complex problems.
  • Prior experience in planning and prioritizing global engagement initiatives to achieve quality outcomes within timelines.
  • Expertise in public affairs, advocacy, government relations, or similar fields with a deep understanding of global politics.
  • Strong project management skills and risk resolution abilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity in a global context.
  • Effective communication skills across various media and audiences.
  • Experience providing professional advice to leaders within complex organizations.
  • Staff management and motivation skills.
  • Qualifications in business administration and/or project management.
  • Experience working within a global organization.
