Video Capture: Operate cameras and other recording equipment to capture high-quality video footage.
Creative Direction: Work collaboratively with clients or creative teams to understand the vision and goals for each project.
Lighting and Composition: Set up and arrange lighting for optimal visual appeal. Select appropriate angles and compositions for various shots.
Editing: Edit and assemble raw footage, incorporating transitions, effects, and sound to create a polished final product.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all video equipment is properly maintained and in working order. Stay current with technological advancements in videography.
Storyboarding: Assist in the development of storyboards or shot lists to plan the sequence of scenes and shots.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, such as producers, directors, and editors, to achieve cohesive and high-quality video projects.
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during shooting or editing processes.
Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and make adjustments to meet expectations.
Conduct quality checks to ensure the final video product meets industry standards and aligns with the project’s objectives.
File and Folder Management: Organization, arrangement, and maintenance of digital data on a computer or other storage devices.
Skills Required
Proven work experience as a video editor
Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)
Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing
