Job Summary
As a skip tracer officer, the ideal candidate will play a vital role in locating individuals who have defaulted on financial obligations. His/her primary responsibility will be to employ investigative techniques to locate these individuals, facilitate contact and ultimately recover outstanding debts. This role requires a keen eye for detail, exceptional research skills, and a commitment to ethical practices.
Key responsibilities:
- Utilize various resources and databases to gather information on debtors’ whereabouts, including public records, online databases, social media platforms, and other skip-tracing tools.
- Employ effective skip-tracing techniques to locate debtors who have relocated, changed contact information, or are attempting to evade collection efforts.
- Work closely with internal teams such as collections, legal, and compliance to develop strategies for locating and contacting debtors while adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintained accurate and detailed records of all skip-tracing activities, including findings, actions taken, and communication with debtors or third parties.
- Communicate effectively with debtors, third-party contacts, and internal stakeholders to gather information, negotiate payment arrangements, and resolve disputes professionally and courteously.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in skip-tracing techniques to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Business Administration or other related fields.
- Proven experience in skip tracing, collections, investigations, or a related field within the financial services industry with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex information and draw actionable conclusions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in utilizing skip tracing tools, databases, and online resources to locate individuals.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing debt collection and skip-tracing activities.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
