Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and first aid to students and staff for illness, injuries, and emergencies occurring during school hours.
- Conduct health assessments, screenings, and evaluations to identify and address student health concerns.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring compliance with school policies and regulations.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and develop individualized healthcare plans as needed.
- Develop and implement health education programs and initiatives to promote wellness and prevent illness and injury.
- Educate students, staff, and parents on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to integrate health and wellness into the school curriculum and activities.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for health-related issues within the school community.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, including immunization records, medical histories, and treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding student health information and privacy.
- Keep detailed records of health office visits, treatments provided, and communication with parents/guardians and healthcare providers.
- Develop and implement emergency response protocols and procedures to address medical emergencies, disasters, and crises.
- Conduct regular drills and training sessions to prepare staff and students for emergency situations.
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and other staff members to support student health and well-being.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, degree from an accredited institution.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
