Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Oversees the process of developing new products, improving existing ones, and working with the Research and Development (R&D) team to ensure all our products are ready for market launch and meet the needs of our consumers. Will be responsible to supervise and plan a product’s market research.

THE DUTIES

  • Set R&D objectives, planning for cost-effective recipes, formulations, substitutes for RM, variations, process modifications and standards, quality specifications, etc.
  • Execute development, optimization, and cost-effective initiatives for designated clients proactively or in response to requests to increase sales volume.
  • Ensure there is an activity plan indicating timelines and resources needed to execute the R&D deliverables.
  • Manage New Product Development (NPD) initiatives, lead trials on the shop floor or in public, and work with marketing to organize market testing of new product prototypes and gather customer feedback.
  • Work with manufacturing to produce and solidify process methodology and standard operating procedures (SOPs) after the product concept and formulation are complete.
  • Establish SOPs and process methodology after product conception and formulation are complete.
  • Produce and update documentation related to the research and development process, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Conduct and properly document the chemical & physical analysis – target and new products.

THE PERSON MUST

  • Have proven experience in R&D, product development, or innovation management.​
  • Have strong business acumen with a deep understanding of market dynamics and customer needs.​
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.​
  • Have effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.​
  • Have a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.​
  • Have strong leadership and team management skills

QUALIFICATION

  • B.sc / HND in Food Sciences or any related course.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of related experience in the food manufacturing industry.
