About Job

Our organization an indigenous NGO in Nigeria has been engaged to carry out full-scale implementation of malaria interventions in Borno state. The objective of this project is to strengthen the delivery and promote the uptake of malaria prevention and treatment services in the state, especially in rural communities where the burden of malaria is the greatest.

In line with this objective, we are seeking to hire a Program Lead-Clinical Care to join our team. The position holder will be responsible for overseeing the clinical care component of the project, working closely with the Project Director and project team to implement evidence-based approaches to achieve the project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the clinical care component of the project, provide technical assistance for diagnosing and managing uncomplicated and complicated/severe, malaria and prevention, including Intermittent Preventive Treatment to pregnant women (IPTp)
  •  Work with the project team and State Malaria Elimination Program to develop capacity-building tools, guidelines, SOPs, and other policy documents.
  •  Provide technical support, including capacity building to State National Malaria Elimination Program staff and existing Project staff in improving malaria prevention and control services.
  •  Coordinate with the NMEP, SMEP, and other stakeholders to determine all capacity-building needs for implementing the clinical management of malaria and identify suitable opportunities to deploy appropriate resources to meet these needs.
  • Work in close collaboration with the FMOH, SMOH, NMEP, SMEP, and other stakeholders on the identification of technical assistance required to achieve the expected outcomes for the Malaria Impact Grant Project
  •  Keep the Project Director informed of progress, constraints, and other issues.
  •  Represent the organization in presenting periodic reports to relevant stakeholders through meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Produce weekly and monthly project updates and reports and monthly activity plans for diagnosis and treatment in health facilities and within the community.
  •  Any other assigned responsibilities.

Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline ( Medicine/public health/epidemiology/) with a minimum of 7 years of experience;
  • Medical and Clinical qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and management of malaria programming in Nigeria.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in delivering or providing technical assistance for the diagnosis and management of uncomplicated and complicated/severe malaria and prevention including Intermittent Preventive Treatment to pregnant women (IPTp) in accordance with the most current national protocols and treatment regimens;
  • Familiarity with the Borno State health system
  • Familiarity with analytical tools and ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical approaches for operational work; and
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English,.Fluency in Kanuri and Hausa will be an asset
