Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to develop and deliver engaging Physical and Health Education (PHE) lessons that foster physical fitness, health, and well-being among students. Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active student participation and promotes values like teamwork, respect, and cooperation is essential.
  • Moreover, the candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an age-appropriate PHE curriculum, utilizing various instructional strategies to cater to diverse learning styles. Regularly assessing and evaluating student progress will be crucial, with a focus on providing constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  • To enrich the students’ experiences, the candidate will plan and organize various PHE activities, including sports events, competitions, and recreational activities, both within the school and in collaboration with other educational institutions. Collaborating with fellow teachers and staff to integrate PHE concepts into the broader school curriculum will also be expected.
  • Accurate record-keeping of student attendance, achievements, and behavior will be necessary for effective monitoring and evaluation. The candidate must establish and maintain open communication channels with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a supportive educational environment.
  • Staying updated on the latest trends and developments in physical and health education will be encouraged, enabling the incorporation of innovative techniques and resources into teaching practices.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field, and also hold a TRCN certification. Proven experience as a PHE Teacher, preferably in a Secondary School setting, will be advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of physical fitness, health, and wellness principles is expected, along with strong instructional and classroom management skills. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential attributes for effective interaction with students and colleagues alike. Moreover, a passion for education and a genuine interest in promoting the well-being of students are highly valued qualities.
