Job Summary: The Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist develops and deploys strategies to manage Health, Safety & Environment effectively. The role involves assisting, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of HSE strategies, overseeing HSE performance, and developing and implementing environmental strategies for sustainable development.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy strategies for managing Health, Safety & Environment.
- Assist, support, and monitor the implementation of the HSE strategy.
- Oversee the HSE performance, develop, implement, and monitor environmental strategies that promote sustainable development.
- Provide BUA Cement Plc management with strategic direction on HSE management, focusing on performance outcomes and continuous improvement of key indicators. Ensure alignment and compliance with BUA Group HCSE Policies, Standards, and Guidance, and promote and support compliance with industry requirements and Regulatory Environment Standards.
- Build and facilitate the effective execution of Environmental Management Systems across BUA Cement Plc.
- Facilitate the development of the Annual Budget for Community Development Projects across BUA Cement Plc, support, appraise, and monitor implementation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Facilitate HSE training for personnel, including contractors, to meet the organization’s minimum and job-related training requirements.
- Manage the development and implementation of Process Safety Management site-wide.
- Focus on achieving the highest levels of HSE performance through behavior-based initiatives, auditing, mentoring, and expeditiously implementing change.
- Provide oversight and expertise for incident investigations, development of corrective plans, and follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
- Deploy site-specific emergency action plans and solutions for dealing with simultaneous operations, coordinate activities, and provide feedback to all contractors involved.
- Facilitate and support the maintenance of ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 certifications.
- Facilitate the handling of waste disposal coordination from cradle to grave.
- Support the development, implementation, and tracking of the closure of preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of future injuries and HSE events.
- Ensure Plants’ compliance with OSHA regulations, including conducting safety meetings and inspections for a leading crude hauling company for major oil producers.
