Job Description

Job Summary

  • A Database Management Officer is a specialized IT professional responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of databases within an organization, from design and development to maintenance and optimization.
  • The role requires a strong understanding of database systems, security practices, and collaboration with other IT teams to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the organization’s data infrastructure.


  • Installation, configuration, and upgrading of DBMS database management system e.g. Oracle, MSSQL, Maria and MYSQL server software and related products.
  • Perform timely database backup and recovery in line with procedures and policy to achieve overall banks’ objective of business continuity.
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) in line with banks procedures and Policies.
  • Make exception reports on database-related issues.
  • Perform database tuning and performance monitoring in line with policies and procedures.
  • Set up and maintain documentation and standards.
  • Perform general technical troubleshooting and give consultation to development teams.
  • Maintain 100% uptime of all databases hosting various applications been maintained by the bank
  • Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with high availability.
  • Improvement and maintenance of the databases such as rollout and upgrades
  • Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshoot, and correct problems that occur within the operational database
  • Document, develop, test, and implement updates to operational databases.
  • Recommends system enhancements to maximize application efficiency.
  • Support the core banking application.
  • Database Management, ensuring data integrity and database uptime.


  • BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or any related course of study
  • Minimum of 3 – 6 years of experience with a financial institution
  • Database Configuration and Installation
  • Restore and ensure database backup validity.
  • Database Patching
  • Security and database user management.
  • Database tuning and monitoring.
  • Database issues resolution and escalation.
