Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Financial recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording transactions, such as income, expenses, assets, and liabilities, in accounting software or ledgers.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis (e.g., monthly, quarterly, or annually) to provide management and stakeholders with insights into the financial health and performance of the organization.
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts by analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and projecting future revenues, expenses, and cash flows.
  • Tax compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing accurate and timely tax returns, including income tax returns, sales tax returns, and payroll tax returns. Advise management on tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Auditing: Collaborate with internal or external auditors to facilitate audits of the organization’s financial records and internal controls. Address any audit findings or recommendations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Financial analysis: Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Cash management: Monitor cash flows, reconcile bank statements, and manage cash balances to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs while optimizing investment opportunities and minimizing idle cash.
  • Payroll processing: Calculate and process payroll for employees, including salary/wage calculations, deductions, benefits administration, and payroll tax withholdings. Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations regarding wages and benefits.
  • Accounts payable and receivable: Manage accounts payable by processing invoices, issuing payments, and reconciling vendor accounts. Manage accounts receivable by invoicing customers, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collection.
  • Internal controls: Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting. Review and improve processes to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Financial advisory: Provide financial advice and guidance to management on matters such as budgeting, cost control, pricing strategies, investment decisions, and business expansion opportunities.
  • Regulatory compliance: Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements relevant to the organization’s industry and jurisdiction. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

    • First Degree & ICAN.
    • Candidates must be familiar with accounting software.
    • An accountant with a minimum  4 years of experience is needed in an Engineering firm.
