JOB SUMMARY
As the Quarry Supervisor at our Ewekoro plant, your primary responsibility is to efficiently coordinate and oversee ongoing quarry operations, ensuring the attainment of production targets while upholding stringent safety and environmental standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for plant operations during off-hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prioritize Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies as our top business priority and actively support safety initiatives within the plant to enhance HSE performance.
- Demonstrate unwavering commitment to communicating, enhancing, and adhering to safety policies across all work environments.
- Conduct regular safety meetings involving all crew members and ensure prompt action is taken on safety concerns.
- Review and report on accidents/incidents, ensuring follow-up investigations and actions.
- Enforce safety practices, ensure the availability of safety equipment, and provide initial first aid treatment.
- Collaborate with crew members to understand and execute instructions from the Mining Engineer, adhering to operational guidelines.
- Monitor operations, identify malfunctions or abnormalities, and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
- Assess breakdown causes, determine urgency of corrective measures, and coordinate repair crews.
- Oversee quality control activities during your shift and contribute to decision-making processes in this area.
- Maintain vigilance over plant operations during off-hours, including assisting security and ensuring effective emergency response.
- Keep a detailed and accurate record of shift activities in the production log book.
- Motivate employees through effective delegation, recognition, follow-up on suggestions, and fair treatment.
- Initiate or support department head in addressing employee performance, absenteeism, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Report daily or shift activities for your group according to established formats.
- Perform various quarry-related tasks, such as conducting studies, preparing operating procedures, providing operator training, supervising project implementation, and assisting in equipment shutdowns and inventory management.

Plant Context
Your role is crucial in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of our quarry to meet the plant’s objectives in terms of raw material supply, production output, and cost control. You will receive support from the Corporate Technical Center.
PROFILE REQUIRED
Education:
- Minimum SSCE/OND qualification in any engineering or geosciences discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience.
- Proficiency in machine main system operations.
Technical Competencies:
- Strong awareness of Health and Safety practices, with the ability to inspect and understand machine operations.
- Proficiency in comprehending machine operation parameters (speed, pressures, temperatures), monitoring dials and indicators, and making necessary adjustments to drilling systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills, especially in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email applications.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization abilities.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills.
