Job Description:
Assist in basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
- Follow recipes and instructions provided by the chefs.
- Ensure all ingredients and equipment are ready and available for the chefs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and utensils.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces regularly.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing food and supplies deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, informing the supervisor when restocking is required.
- Rotate and label food items according to storage guidelines.
- Assist chefs and cooks during food preparation and service.
- Help with plating and garnishing dishes.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
- Properly dispose of food waste and recyclable materials.
- Comply with waste management regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward staff and customers at all times.
- Carrying out all other tasks in the ordinary course of business which the management reasonably consider necessary or proper in the interest of the Company in your capacity as an Kitchen Assistant.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and methods
- Ability to use key kitchen equipment
- Ability to bone meat, wash, peel and cut vegetables, and prepare a wide range of ingredients
- Knowledge of hygiene and safety standards regarding food preparation and storage
- Ability to handle a number of tasks simultaneously
- Preferably male
