Job Summary:

 

  • The Field Coordinator (Logistics & Warehouse) is responsible for overseeing logistics and warehouse operations at field locations of Cardinal Torch Company. Responsible for coordinating, assisting, and supporting all Cardinal Torch’s work during field studies of local and international projects.

 

  • This role involves managing inventories, coordinating transportation, and supporting operational logistics to meet project objectives. The coordinator will also ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures to maintain smooth operations.

 

  • The Field Coordinator will be involved in all aspects of the farm from overseeing and carrying out field work to sales. Responsible for leading daily work with the crew on the farm as directed by the Agricultural Scientist. While working closely with and reporting to the Agricultural Scientist, the Field Coordinator will also have many independent and leadership responsibilities.

 

  • Must communicate all business activities and findings to colleagues, managers and the public through reports and presentations

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee daily operations in the warehouse, ensuring proper storage, safety, and handling of goods.
  • Maintain day-to-day liaison with internal and external field officials such as procurement officers and other stakes working in and for Cardinal Torch Company Limited for efficient implementation of project activities.
  • Work closely by daily communication with Head of Operations regarding work plans and tasks to be accomplished.
  • Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and manage stock control systems.
  • Ensure that the warehouse is well-organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Supervise loading and unloading of materials, ensuring timely dispatch to required Plan and coordinate transportation of goods to and from field locations, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Optimize routes and manage transport schedules to minimize costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and transport companies to ensure the safe and secure movement of goods.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, and transportation costs.
  • Track inventory levels and movements to ensure that stock levels are maintained to meet operational needs.
  • Implement and maintain inventory management systems, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Forecast inventory requirements based on project needs and logistics operations.
  • Supervise warehouse staff, including loaders, drivers, and logistics assistants.
  • Ensure all team members are trained in safety procedures and logistics protocols.
  • Prepare regular reports on warehouse and logistics activities, including stock levels, transport activities, and issues encountered.
  • Maintain records of all transactions, including receipts, invoices, and delivery notes.
  • Provide regular updates to management on logistics and inventory status.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the warehouse and during transportation.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and training for warehouse staff.
  • Ensure that materials and goods are stored and transported in compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Address any logistical challenges, delays, or issues that may arise in the field.
  • Work to resolve inventory discrepancies and shipping delays.
  • Liaise with other departments, including procurement and finance, to resolve logistics-related issues.
  • Leading work and sharing knowledge: leading the farm assistants, interns, and volunteers as needed by Agricultural Scientist.
  • Conduct timely sourcing for required crops to enhance the efficiency and profitability of the business, apply the results to tasks such as increasing crop and improving the environment.
  • Distribution and sales: delivering to wholesale clients, food-shelf, sales at farmers’ markets, setting up farm stand and overseeing sales.
  • Plans and directs development and production of hybrid plant varieties with high yield or disease and insect resistant characteristics.
  • Record Keeping: keeping track of all aspects of the work to satisfy organic requirements. Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports.
  • Community Engagement: interacting with diverse stakeholders and farm guests while understanding the needs of procurement within the agrarian communities.
  • Determines procedural changes in drying, grading, storage, and shipment for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Compiling data and produce field activity reports on any number of factors that affect agricultural production, using these reports to inform farmers, seed suppliers, etc of potential improvements to be made as per Cardinal Torch Company Limited’s requirement. Prepare and submit End of Assignment Reports as required.
  • Confers with purchasers and arranges for sale of crops.
  • Organize, arrange (resource persons, logistics, maintain communication) and facilitate awareness and capacity building for the community people in coordination and liaison with the sources involved.
  • Carry out all other activities as instructed/required by the Agricultural Scientist and/or management.

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of three (3) years in logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the agricultural industry/market. Candidate must know how it relates to food production, looking at efficiencies and ways to improve the process.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & Power point.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Have a valid drivers’ license.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing field conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote field locations when necessary.
  • Understanding the business principles.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and spoken) in English and additional local languages.
  • Must be an excellent communicator to produce well written reports and communicating results to a wide range of shareholders and computer literate (MS suites, internet search engines).
  • High Energy Level, multi-tasking & prioritizing skills.
  • Working in collaboration with others to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver training, organizing workshops and to interact with local governments and diverse range of counterparts and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to assist the project team with any urgent services.
